Executive Guide to Using Process Mining to Succeed in Major Transformations

Executives have unique issues when facing major transformation projects: they are accountable for the business case, the risk is higher, and there is extreme time pressure to achieve business outcomes. The perspective of executives is NOT project-centric; executives must focus on guarding the customer experience throughout the process of transformation and to ensure this is not only maintained but improved.

This session is a practical guide for executive leadership on how mining TRUTH dramatically alters major transformation success rates and magnitude of return. Learning objectives:
1. Compressing project planning timelines and controlling scope
2. Isolating opportunistic benefit
3. Reducing the burden on frontline staff and key subject experts throughout transformation
4. Smoothing the communication burden in reporting errors, delays, system issues, process failure
5. Proving your business case outcomes and harvesting incremental benefit

Why You Need a Business Glossary Now: Connecting Data to the Language of the Business

Effective alignment between the data captured by the business and the language used by the business is a key to business success. A term may have different meanings for different people based on the context or the interpretation. Misunderstandings caused by incorrect interpretation of business data increase the risk of expensive errors and expose huge business risks. Having a Business Glossary can help to minimize the potential for misinterpretation.

This event will show you how can jump-start the Business Glossary initiative using a template approach. You can save time and money in developing an effective Business Glossary that provides clarification, structure, and content, via a Universal Business Glossary.

In this presentation, we will show how a Business Analyst can begin a Business Glossary initiative through:

? Implementing best practices for defining terms
? Jump-starting the glossary initiative using templates
? Leveraging universal domains
? Connecting the Business Glossary with the Data Dictionary
? Managing terms and definitions
? Understanding the governance required to ensure the longevity of the Business Glossary program

The Digital Design Professional for Today’s Digital Ecosystem

Today’s innovative digital solutions are driven by technology and disruptive business models. To design a digital solution, you need to consider hardware, software, the physical environment, and the desired business model as well as the people that will use the system. Look for example at a Smart Home solution where light, heating, doors, windows, cameras or smoke and water detectors can be controlled from anywhere (at home or abroad) by different devices like a smart watch, smart phones, or voice-controlled devices like Echo Dot, Google Home or HomePod.

As a Digital Design Professional, you need to know and to understand the capabilities and limits of the available technology, in order to build the best possible digital solution that solves existing problems and meets the needs of the intended users. In short: The Digital Design Professional needs to understand the problem and solution space to create the best solution.

The idea of digital design is to understand “digital” as a material to shape digital solutions, like the way a carpenter understands wood as their material to build solutions. We will show that this understanding significantly improves our ability to design digital solution.

When you attend, you will:
* Understand the relationship between classical materials science and digital design,
* Understand the idea of "DIGITAL" as material to shape a digital solution,
* Learn about the aspects of form, function and quality for the digital solution, and
* Learn how to differentiate between perceivable vs. underlying technology

The BA and Digital Transformations

We business analysts are familiar with automation. We’ve been recommending changes in business to further automate manual procedures and to improve the current automated processes. However we are in the throes of a total disruption in which the mere automation of processes is no longer enough. We are looking at fully automated stores, “smart” branch banking, our life at our fingertips in the form of cell phones, and more and more digitization of everything we do.

Does this change the role of the business analyst? The question is, will the business analyst continue to react to changes as they are occurring and spend their time defining software requirements and user stories or will the business analyst be at the forefront of the entire transformation process in the organization?

This webinar provides a look at the disruption of digital transformation to business and to the job of the business analyst, and what the business analyst can do about it.

Topics:
? Automation versus Transformation
? Digital disruption
? An eye toward innovation
? Maintain our business analysis edge

Business Process Modeling, Development, and Support (BPMDS'2020)

The topics addressed by the BPMDS series are focused on business processes and their IT support. One of the major aims is to discuss and to learn about concepts and techniques to enhance the ability to engineer software systems closer the business requirements.

Since 2012, a special issue is organised per year in the International Journal on Software and Systems Modeling (SoSyM) with the extended papers invited from the BPMDS working conference.

The *Business Process Modeling, Development and Support (BPMDS)* working conference has been held for two decades, dealing with and promoting research on BPMDS, and has been a platform for a multitude of influential research papers. In keeping with its tradition, the working conference covers a broad range of theoretical and application-based research on BPMDS.

This year’s topic theme “BPM meets data” follows the emergence of data science as a prominent area, and is thus investigating various aspects of the relations between processes and data. These relations can be viewed along the business process life-cycle:
- Designing and modeling data-aware processes
- Integrating and incorporating different kinds and sources of data in process execution environments (IOT, blockchain, network traffic)
- Monitoring, assessing performance and conformance, and predicting the outcomes of running processes using the data they generate
- Creating process models from various sources of data through process discovery

The BA and Business Analytics

It might be easy for the business analyst to pass the challenges of business analytics, with all of the statistics, math, algorithms, programming in strange languages like R and Python off to the data analysts and data scientists but at the same time we may find that we are passing control of the business and of our careers to someone else.

Business analytics does not work, at least it won’t work successfully, without having some kind of business problem to solve. Despite the mythology of data mining and data analysts coming up with magic associations and insights that no one ever saw before, it doesn’t really happen that way. The data analysts and data scientists are brilliant at applying algorithms to massive amounts of data to produce results, but someone has to understand what the organization’s problems and issues are and form the questions that the data scientists and analysts are going to answer with data.

This webinar introduces you to the concepts of business analytics and data mining and how the business analyst plays an integral role in the overall success of business and data analytics in the organization.
Topics:
? It sounds similar, but it’s not your job?
? Using business analytics
? The business analytics value chain
? The business analyst’s role and why it’s necessary
? Asking the right questions
